What is Digital Literacy?

Digital literacy is defined as the ability to effectively navigate, critically analyze, and produce information using digital technology as well as the ability to create new tools for navigating, analyzing, and producing information.

Digital technology shapes how we communicate, how we form, maintain, and end relationships, how we store, retrieve, and analyze information, how we design our digital and learning spaces, and how we organize our time. In short, digital technology is changing what it means to be educated, informed, and engaged.

USC Rossier School of Education has published an online toolkit, which provides how-to guides, real-life examples of the benefits of digital literacy and actionable strategies to incorporate technology in the classroom.
