Primo: The New Search System at Denison Libraries

This guide provides information about Denison Libraries' move to Primo, our new integrated library system launching in June 2025. Find updates, key dates, and resources to help you navigate the transition.

Using the New System

Primo officially launches at Denison on June 27, 2025. This new system offers one easy place to find books, articles, media, and more, whether it’s on our shelves or in OhioLINK. This page will help you get started, learn the basics, and know where to turn for support.

Logging In with Your BigRedID

Primo uses your Denison credentials (BigRedID) for access. Once you’re signed in, you can:

  • View current loans and due dates

  • Renew items

  • Track OhioLINK

  • Save favorite searches or items for later

Finding Materials

With Primo, you can search:

  • Denison’s physical collections

  • Online articles, e-books, and streaming media

  • Items from other OhioLINK libraries

You can also use filters to narrow results by:

  • Resource type (book, article, video, etc.)

  • Availability

  • Library location

  • Date or subject

You’ll no longer need to jump between Summon, CONSORT, and OhioLINK. It’s all available in one unified search.

Placing Requests and Managing Your Account

You can request most items directly in Primo:

  • Use the “Get It” button to place holds on physical materials.

  • Interlibrary Loan is still available and fully supported for unavailable items or advanced requests.

  • Renewals for Denison items are automatic; OhioLINK loans follow state policies and may need manual renewals.

All your account activity will be visible through a single dashboard after logging in.

Searching for Materials Previously Available in CONSORT

  • In Primo, Kenyon, Wooster, and Ohio Wesleyan materials have been incorporated into OhioLINK Search. Use the same “Get It” option to place holds on these materials.

Where to Get Help and Training

We’re creating a range of resources to support faculty, staff, and students:

  • Drop-in sessions and workshops

  • Short how-to videos will be provided

  • One-on-one consultations with subject librarians

  • Classroom-ready slides or handouts for instructors

Training will be available throughout the Summer and Fall of 2025. If you’d like early access or want to schedule a session, contact us at libprimo-group@denison.edu.
