Primo FAQ

General Migration Questions

What is Primo?

Primo is our new integrated library search system. It allows you to search across Denison, OhioLINK, and licensed digital resources in one place. It replaces Summon, the CONSORT catalog, the OhioLINK interface, and multiple disconnected search tools.

When did the system go live?

Primo officially launched on June 27, 2025. It has fully replaced all previous catalog systems.

Why did we make this change?

This upgrade simplifies search, expands resource access, and improves user experience. Denison made this transition alongside all institutions in the OhioLINK and Five Colleges of Ohio (Ohio5) consortia.

What happened to CONSORT?

The CONSORT catalog was retired. Items held by Kenyon, Wooster, and Ohio Wesleyan are now requestable in Primo via OhioLINK Search. No separate platform is required.

What happened to Summon?

Summon was also retired. Primo provides all the functionality of Summon and more, within one integrated platform.

Borrowing & Account Questions

Who was affected by these changes?

Everyone who uses library materials, faculty, staff, and students, was affected. This included users who needed to return items during the migration window or adjust due dates.

Did my checkouts transfer?

Loans on Denison-owned materials are transferred automatically. You can now see them reflected in My Library Card. Items from other CONSORT schools (Kenyon, Ohio Wesleyan, Wooster) and OhioLINK did not transfer automatically. Library staff are working to manually transfer outstanding checkouts. If you have items, please return them at your earliest convenience.

Will I still receive automated reminders?

Yes. Due dates and overdue notices continue to come from the library.

Can I still access MyCONSORT?

No. MyCONSORT access ended in June 2025. All new account activity is available through My Library Card.

How does OhioLink Lending work in Primo?

You can now request OhioLink materials through Primo.

How was CONSORT lending affected?

CONSORT lending ended on June 10, and CONSORT was retired in June 2025. Items from Kenyon, Ohio Wesleyan, and Wooster are now requested through OhioLINK Search in Primo

Will things automatically renew in the new system?

Yes, Primo supports renewals! However, not all items all eligible for renewal; check your My Library Card

What about materials from Kenyon, Wooster, or Ohio Wesleyan?

Those materials are now part of OhioLINK Search in Primo

What do I do if I get a fine or fee email?

Contact the Denison Libraries Circulation DeskDenison Libraries remains fine-free for most items. Due to some ongoing cleanup related to patron accounts, you may receive overdue or billed notices for items. If you are concerned about the accuracy of a fine, please reach out to the Circulation Desk.

What if I still need something I returned?

You can re-request it in Primo. If you run into issues, we’re happy to help.

What happened to items borrowed during the freeze (June 10–25)
