Primo: The New Search System at Denison Libraries

Denison Libraries has upgraded to a new library system. On June 27, 2025, we launched Primo, a faster, simpler way to search, borrow, and explore library resources. This new platform replaced the older systems you may have used before: Summon, the CONSORT catalog, the OhioLINK catalog interface, and separate search tools for digital collections.

With Primo, everything is in one place.

What Changed and Why

We moved from multiple disconnected platforms to a unified search system that brings together books, articles, media, and digital resources, both at Denison and across OhioLINK, into a single, user-friendly experience.

Behind the scenes, we also transitioned to Alma, a next-generation system that helps us manage resources more efficiently and continue providing excellent service.

These changes are part of a broader effort across the OhioLINK and Five Colleges of Ohio (Ohio5) library communities to streamline services and better support teaching, learning, and research. What is Primo?

Primo is our discovery platform. It’s your go-to search tool for:

  • Finding physical materials in the library

  • Accessing e-books, articles, and streaming content

  • Requesting materials from OhioLINK libraries

  • Managing your library account, holds, and renewals

  • Saving searches and tracking your research

You'll log in using your BigRedID; no additional credentials are required.
