If you are unsure which sites are likely to have the type of map or cartographic information you need, Data.gov is a good place to start. The Interactive Data sets page allows you to browse by data type eg. maps and the by agency or topic of interest.
Landsat images of events, cities, and geographic/geologic features are available on this site. There is also a link to "Earth as Art" where you can "view our planet through the beautiful images taken by the Landsat-7 satellite - and most recently, the Terra Satellite's Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER)."
