CONSORT is the library catalog for four of the five Ohio Five Libraries, including Denison, College of Wooster, Kenyon, and Ohio Wesleyan.  You can use it to find:

  • Books
  • DVDs & Videos
  • Journal and Periodical Titles (not individual articles)
  • Reserve materials
  • and more...

Search CONSORT

CONSORT SEARCH TIPS:

  • Use AND to combine terms & narrow your search
    • example: exile AND Ovid

  • Use OR to search for related terms & expand your search
    • example; poetry OR epic

  • Use * to truncate a word & return all possible endings
    • example: sculptur* (will return sculpture, sculptures, sculptural, etc.)

Library Catalogs - Find Books

  • Search CONSORT and OhioLINK for books and other materials containing information about your topic.
  • Items requested from other libraries will be delivered to the Circulation desk in 3-5 days.
  • If you cannot find what you need in either CONSORT or OhioLINK, try WorldCat (but remember that you will need to fill an Interlibrary Loan form when requesting from WorldCat).

Subject Term Searching

In addition to the browsing call number ranges below, it can be useful to search by subject terms. Folklore and related terms are Free Floating subject headings. This means that you won't necessarily find Folklore as its own subject term, but you will find it in combination with other subject terms for geographic regions, ethnic, national, or occupational groups, or social life and customs. Browsing for Folklore Books

Another option is to browse the STACKS for books.  You can do that by checking the library floor guide to see where you will find items for your subject. The library is organized by the Library of Congress Classification system and an outline of all the subjects can be found here.  For example, if you were interested in Classics, you might browse the following subject areas:
