Off Campus Access to Library Resources

Library resources are available to all Denison Faculty, Staff, and Students -- so when we are off campus, we need to indicate that we are members of the Denison community to access these resources.

We do so by logging into these resources though the Library website

  • First, search for your desired resource, using the Library website as a starting point.
    • Quick access to online content: Summon
    • Quick access to online content: CONSORT
  • When you've found what you're looking for, click on the link for access.
  • You will be asked to log in to online resources, using your MyDenison (email) credentials.
  • When requesting books, you will be asked to log in with your name and D# (including the D) or the 14-digit barcode on the back of your ID.
  • Questions?  Contact us through emailphone, and chat or text.

Curated by our E-Resources & Scholarly Communication Librarian, Yuimi Hlasten, this section will explain how to access online books, journals, and media off campus.

Use the search box below to find ebooks in Summon.

Online Journals

If you're doing research, you may need to track down some journal articles.

Using Summon to Search for Journals

One way to track down journal articles on your research topic is using Summon.

Let's walk through an example together:

  • Starting from the Library website, type your search into the Summon search box.  Click the red magnifying glass to begin your search.
  • On the left-hand side of the Summon screen, you'll see a variety of limiters,  like the filters you see on Amazon.
  • Since you want to look for journal articles that are available online, click on "Full Text Online" and "Journal Article" to narrow your search.
  • Click on a title that's of interest!
Pro-Tips:
  1.  If you know the title of a journal article you're looking for, you can type the title into a Summon search to track it down!
  2. If you find a great article in your search, check out the rest of the journal webpage--you might find more great articles a few clicks away!
    1. You can also do this with Summon! Search for a journal title, and then select "Search within [journal title]?"
  3. Article citations are also a great place to find more articles.  Check those resources at the end!

Streaming Media: Online Films

The Library has several streaming media platforms available, and here is just a taste of our favorites.  Check out our full list, here.

Streaming Music & Spoken Word: Online Resources

The Library also offers several music platforms as well as educational tools with streaming audio components.  Check out our full list, here

Summon - Fulltext E-Resources Only

Find all full text electronic resources available through Summon regardless of format. This will include: books, book chapters, journal articles, newspaper articles, journals, and many, many more formats.

NOTE: some databases do not play nicely with Summon (MLA International Bibliography is one example; primary resource databases also fall into this category). So you may still need to visit individual databases to get the best results. See "All Subject / Class Guides" to find databases for a particular subject area.
