2007

The Noose and the Swastika

A swastika slipped under an African American RA’s door. This appeared in response to the vocal shock and outrage expressed over a Halloween concert flyer decorated with nooses, which had been created in ignorance by an international student. These events sparked campus-wide demonstrations and conversations about bigotry at Denison and the power of symbols.

Minority Studies/Black Studies requirement reinstituted because of these discussions.
